August:
Welcome back. Hope each of you had a wonderful break. Cindy and I attended an Organizing Institute in July. The event was full of interesting information and gave us a little time to plan the upcoming year. One piece that both of us came away from the workshop was our story of why we are members of this association. We will be sharing those stories with you in the near future, we also will be asking you for your stories to help us build membership. Not a lot of information to share with board meeting through the summer. As issues and information arise, we will make sure that you get that information. Hope to see you at our annual meeting on Monday. Come and visit, get information, enjoy treats, and maybe win the drawing. ~Carey September:
Not a whole lot to share with everyone this month for board meeting. There were three policies presented to the board that you may want to take a look at. The first one on the list is on its final read for District Email for Political Purposes. This policy is nothing new. It simply follows the law of how an email account should be used. Be careful how you use your district devices and accounts. The Professional Improvement Policy and the Salary Schedule Policy were conflicting policies and needed to be adjusted. The one policy stated that only college credits could be used for any salary improvement changes, and the other stated that USBE credits could be a resource to change salary. Both policies will now state that both college credits and USBE credits may be used for salary changes. Also clarification was added to the timeline of qualifying credits, which in the past was unclear. Our Schools Now was discussed and there are concerns across the state from school officials to endorse this political move. So Our Schools Now created an informational video not an endorsement. Here is the link if you are interested and would like to be more informed before you vote. Feel free to share this video with others so they may be well informed about Question 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ngfy1Ikwl3E&feature=youtu.be I hope each of you are off to a great start for this school year. Please remember to not get so wrapped up in your jobs that you forget to have a life and enjoy yourself a bit. My goal this year is to find time to enjoy myself and so that I may come to work refreshed and enjoy spending time with my students. If you have any ideas, questions, concerns, or frustrations, please let us know. Your reps are there for you and would love to hear from you. Please keep them informed so that they may bring your concerns to our meetings. Professional Improvement Policy Salary Schedule Policy Use of District Email Policy |
